RFSL, the Swedish Federation for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Intersex Rights is a non-profit organisation that was founded in 1950. RFSL's goal is that LGBTQ people should have the same rights, possibilities and obligations as everybody else in society.

RFSL – The Swedish Federation for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Intersex Rights works locally, nationally and internationally and is an ever growing organisation with about 7000 members and 38 branches all over Sweden. RFSL Umeå is a local branch of RFSL which was established on 1972.

In Umeå we have been working with, among others, HIV-prevention, lgbtqi-lectures and activities for Newcomers.

We follow RFSL’s goal that the same rights, opportunities and obligations shall apply to LGBTQI people as for everyone else in society.

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) is the highest decision making body of RFSL Umeå. The board of RFSL Umeå plans and executes activities and makes overall decision on RFSL Umeå’s policies, activities, actions and cooperations according to the instructions from AGM and the bi-laws of RFSL.

We are here for our members and we are run by members. Read more about how to become a member and support our organisation.

The congress is RFSL’s highest decision making body. It is made up of representatives from all the organisations branches and the youth organisation. A Board of Trustees is elected at RFSL’s congress  and is in charge of implementing the operational plan that the congress determines.
